Dajinzhen (Golden Needle) Honey Forest Black
Dajinzhen translates to 'Big Golden Needles' and is made with only premium golden buds from a big-leaf variety in Yunnan Province, this black tea boasts an intensely sweet aroma and taste, with full-bodied flavors of honey, bark, and wild forest.
Tea Type or Tisane | Flavors: black | honey, tree bark, wild forest
Tea Tips: The complex flavors of this tea are best enjoyed using Eastern brewing directions, allowing for multiple steeps.
Ingredients: China, Fengquing County, Yunnan Province black tea: 100%
How to Steep: Eastern: 1 gram per 30 ml water, 185-190 F; give a quick rinse, then begin with a 15-second steep; increase by 15 seconds with each infusion. For a more intense flavor, after a quick rinse, steep for one-and-a-half minutes. Western: 2-3 grams per 6-8 oz. water, 185-190 F, 3 minutes
Fun Fact: This tea is made using the dayezhong variety, which produces larger leaves, giving the tea more intense flavors. The name "Dajinzhen" comes from "Da" ("Big"), "jin" ("golden") and "zhen" ("needles") "Needles" refers to the shape of the baby leaves or buds, which have more sweetness and nuance of flavor than older, fully-unfurled leaves on the plant. These have been oven-dried, which enhances the honey and wild forest notes.
